I went out to Pacific City, OR to get some footage for the longboard contest a couple weekends ago and I ended up surfing in it! Which was a totally fantastic experience, even though I had not surfed in a year and I'm only half way into my ACL recovery. I didn't fare well to say the least but now I have an itch for surfing in more contests, and definitely for more surf filming on the Oregon coast.
The 2014 Cape Kiwanda Classic had great waves and beautiful weather, at least for the first day of competition in Pacific City, Oregon. The wind hit it hard on day two but the surfers were still able to make it look fun out there.
